Ilinden Monument (Makedonium) – A Symbol of Defiance
The Ilinden Monument was inaugurated on August 2, 1974. Designed by **Jordan and Iskra Grabuloski**, it stands as a symbol of defiance, the struggle, and the eternal aspiration of the Macedonian people for national freedom. Its location on **Gumenje** is deeply symbolic, as it was the strategic base of the Krushevo Revolutionary District’s leadership, headed by President Nikola Karev, during the ten days of the Republic’s freedom.
The Foundry Museum – The Secret Ammunition Factory
During the Ilinden Uprising of 1903, the house of Pashka Lapeska served as a vital hub for the rebellion. Disguised as a simple dye works, this building housed the secret ammunition foundry, managed by a group of intellectuals led by Nikola Kirov Majski.
Nikola Martinoski Gallery: A Treasury of Macedonian Modern Art
The initiative to establish this art gallery began in the mid-1960s. Driven by a deep attachment to their native Krushevo and a desire to honor the doyen of Macedonian contemporary art, a group of prominent citizens initiated the process to preserve the work of their fellow townsman.
Museum of the National Liberation War
Located on the historic Gumenje hill, the Museum of the NLW (NOB) was opened in 1989 as a memorial to the fighting spirit of Krushevo. The exhibition creates a fascinating bridge between the “Two Ilindens” — the revolutionary struggle of 1903 and the liberation of 1944.
Gallery of Icons (Church of St. John)
Nestled within the embrace of the Church of St. John—the youngest of the four churches in Kruševo, built in 1905—this gallery is a true sanctuary of Orthodox art and woodcarving. Opened as a permanent exhibition in 1978, it houses the priceless heritage of the Kruševo icon painters.
